Under the curvy bonnet a dieseltorque by DTE powers the XF. That means power jumps by 30 Hp and torque climbs from 600 Nm to 670 Nm over the standard Jaguar.
With the new dieseltorque the Jaguar XF is pretty intense to drive. Start it up and the cat booms ostentatiously. Power, power and more power is the XFR-S’s calling card. Great when you want to show off, not so great if your neighbours are asleep.

The effectiveness of the PedalBox is brilliant. Docile, when you like to make a chilled progress, but also crushingly helpful when you want to play with your right foot. The Sport-Plus mode feels very exciting, although it’s a pretty aggressive set up. Press the throttle but don’t come running for a new set of tyres.
With a DTE dieseltorque and the PedalBox, you have to be gentle with the throttle as there’s seems to be no limit to the power.
